Haven't you ever wished that you could find a program or a site that would allow you to view all the "wanted" information you required in one specific place? This would save you SO much time! Well what if I told you I found a site online that allowed you to do this and so much more? How much would you pay for it? Okay. Well what if I told you it was free? It's awesome AND free! If you want to know what in the world I'm gabbing on about - I suggest you checking out a little something called a web portal!
A web portal presents information from diverse sources in a unified way. Apart from the standard search engine feature, web portals offer other services such as e-mail, news, stock prices, information, and entertainment. Portals provide a way for enterprises to provide a consistent look and feel with access control and procedures for multiple applications, which otherwise would have been different entities altogether. Examples of a web portal are MSN, Yahoo!, AOL and iGoogle.
A new web portal site could be just the "gadget" you are looking for to make your life a whole lot easier! Hey, we have lives, kids, jobs, etc. We don't have time to waste on stuff. I used to visit hundreds of sites a day trying to log in to sites like Myspace and Facebook. Then, I would visit search engines like Yahoo and Google. Then, I would need to find the weather for the week, find the news for the day, etc. This ended up taking SO much time to do I finally got sick of it and decided to check out these free web portal sites that everyone has been talking about lately.
Its a "home page" that allows you to view everything all at once. You can add widgets and delete widgets and customize whatever the heck you want! A web widget is a portable chunk of code that can be installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page by an end user without requiring additional compilation. They are derived from the idea of code reuse. Other terms used to describe web widgets include: gadget, badge, module, webjit, capsule, snippet, mini and flake.
Web widgets usually, but not always use DHTML, JavaScript, or Adobe Flash. Widgets often take the form of on-screen tools (clocks, event countdowns, auction-tickers, stock market tickers, flight arrival information, daily weather etc). These best web portal sites are seriously going to cut down your time wasted so you can do the more important things in life. For me, it was work. All my other activities kept cutting into my work time and it was really starting to get frustrating when I really sat down and thought about all the time I had wasted that day!
So I tried these best web portal sites out and voila - now I really CAN have everything I want on one page and still do the things I need to do such as work! These are just great options if you joined up with a lot of sites and can never check them, or if you are an information person and "feed" on things like the news. Heck, you could have a web portal dedicated to ALL news ALL the time if that's what you really wanted! It's your portal, it's your choice!
