Summer is just around the corner, full of sun and fun things to do. One thing that often gets neglected is the business card. So often, it is left to the same design it has been for months; professional, dignified, and utilitarian. It's a great business card, but it's summer, time to give it a warm touch to reflect the season.
When you think about changing your business card design, you still have to make it as professional as you are. If you are a daycare provider, you might like to have a small upside-down melting ice cream cone in a corner. Maybe your profession works with small animals, such as a veterinarian or groomer. You could have a paw print in wet sand as the subtle background, maybe even with a few waves in the corner.
A great professional card is one that has abstracts as the background. Simply by changing the colors you have a great summer business card design. Warm reds, yellow and oranges complimented by sky blues really show the summer colors to their best advantage. Even an airbrushed look, which starts with blue toward the top, fades to red and yellow tones in the middle with a final fade to greens gives a lush, warm look to any business card without detracting from its value and purpose.
Flowers can fit many business cards, as there are many ways to portray them. A simplified child-like drawing can grace a corner for the professional who specialises in education or other child-related work. Elegant roses or petite pansies are perfect for florists, landscapers, and even Administrative Assistants would like something with a gentle splash of color.
A fun idea, which is definitely on the unique side, would be a dark blue background with bright yellow lightening bugs around the edges and the type in white. These would be great for electricians or any salesman that deals with lights, wiring, or even outdoor furniture. Very versatile, and really stands out from the rest. Simply change the lightening bugs to stars and you have a great business card for many scientists and meteorologists.
Anybody that works in construction would enjoy an option that symbolises their career in a light-hearted way - such as a builder might like a tree house in a large, leafy tree in the corner, or a maybe a road sign as the background for a highway construction supervisor.
Clothing boutique owners, tailors, seamstresses, and dry cleaners find a bright summer sky with a clothesline and a few clothespins humorous as a background, or perhaps just a clothespin running down the side of the card is more to their liking.
When searching for cool yet warm business card designs for summer, keep in mind the various outdoor activities each profession encounters, the colours of summer, and the contrasting colours to cool it down. If you can't choose one, maybe just a smiling sun with a cold drink in the corner is just perfect for you.
